The Minnesota Twins were swept by the New York Mets 3-2 on Sunday, meaning they return to Target Field with 95 losses and the distinct possibility that they will hit 100 at home.
Minnesota is now 40 games under .500.
“It is frustrating when you are this far out of it and were eliminated early on and you have to find ways to be optimistic,” Brian Dozier told the Star Tribune.
Kyle Gibson gave up two runs in the 1st inning, and ended up only lasting 5.0, giving up seven hits and three earned runs on the night.
“If you’re 40 games under .500, you have to ignore it,” Gibson told the Star Tribune. “You have to go out there and try to play the games. Hopefully through the next two weeks we’ll be on the right side of most of them.”
“I think these guys have done a pretty good job of staying present,” Twins manager Paul Molitor told the Star Tribune. “There’s some frustration. You see it. You hear it. It just means these guys are still trying to find ways to play, taking advantage of getting at-bats and trying to make pitches in a major league game.’’
