Caleb Thielbar Returns to St. Paul Saints

Former Minnesota Twins reliever Caleb Thielbar is returning to the St. Paul Saints.

The former Twins reliever, who pitched two-plus seasons with the team before being waived last summer, was signed off the independent-league team in 2011 and made his major league debut in 2013.

He won the Twins Most Outstanding Rookie award that year after finishing the season with a 1.79 ERA in 49 appearances. He did not allow a run in the first 19.2 innings of his career.

The Randolph, Minn. native is currently on the Saints Wall of Fame inside the team clubhouse at CHS Field. The 29-year-old reliever set the Saints franchise record with 29.2 consecutive scoreless innings in 2011.

He was drafted in the 18th round of the 2009 draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. His rise from the Saints to the Twins was documented by Cold Omaha co-founder Tom Schreier in July 2011.
