Minnesota United Unveil Debut MLS Kit

Amid pulsing bass and a roiling cloud of fog, Minnesota United finally took the wraps off its inaugural Major League Soccer kits on Friday night.

Held at Machine Shop in Minneapolis, hundreds of fans turned out for an invite-only event that promised a first official look at the primary and secondary kits the team will sport as it mounts its debut campaign in the top division of American soccer.

The primary kit is grey with a bright blue sash from the left shoulder to the right hip, nearly identical to the leaked images that hit the internet late last week. The secondary kit is classic white with grey shoulders and blue stripes. Finally, the keeper kit is solid light blue with dark blue accents.

Adorning the front of every jersey is a large monotone bullseye, a new addition this year and the first time United have had a front-of-kit sponsor. United and Target recently announced a multi-year partnership as the team moves up to MLS. Fans should look for the clean, distinctive bullseye on everything from apparel to game day signage.

“It’s a really special day for everyone involved with the club. I grew in Woodbury with a Target store right down the street,” said United defender Brent Kallman in a press release. “My family spent a lot of time in Targets growing up, whether buying school supplies or sporting equipment. It’s a really big moment for the club and I can’t wait to take the field in the new kits.”

Kits and some additional branded merchandise were for sale at the event. Additionally, the team’s online store was updated Friday to include the new apparel and a host of other items. One standout? Branded team socks that read, “Rock Em.”

New slogan? Only time will tell. Grab a pair and a new kit before Minnesota’s home opener against Atlanta United on March 12 at TCF Bank Stadium.
