NFL Draft Prospect Breakdown - Travin Dural (2017 NFL Draft Scouting Report)

When LSU wide receiver Travin Dural tore his hamstring in November 2015, the long road to recovery all but shattered his draft stock and dreams of someday playing in the NFL. The devastation was magnified when completed with the fact Dural was averaging an outstanding 20 yards per catch during his sophomore campaign before that chilly November night against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

However, Dural worked his way back through rigorous rehab and made his way back to the playing field following year. While it was obvious he wasn’t 100 percent healed from the injury and had lost a noticeable gear in his long speed, the fact he was able to bounce back so quickly is a testament to his work ethic.

On the field, Dural displayed great arm length to pluck the ball away from his body on his 6-foot-2, 200-lb. frame. Whether it was quick comebacks or deep patterns over the middle of the field, Dural knew how to find open grass and give his quarterback a large target to throw to.

Dural lacks that one explosive trait that separates him from the pack but instead owns multiple attributes where he is above average. Put it all together and he looks like a capable third or fourth wide receiver in the NFL.

If Dural can ever regain his speed and become the deep threat he once was, he may be able to develop into a starting wideout as a boundary weapon down the road. Proving to team doctors that he is fully healthy off the field while running a sub-4.5 40 time at the combine will be Dural’s golden ticket to becoming a top-100 pick, and separating himself from his peers.
