5/23 PRACTICE NOTES: Danladi likely out injured for two to three weeks

Minnesota United returned to the practice pitch Tuesday having once again come so close to knocking down one of the established club’s in Major League Soccer’s hierarchy, only to come up just short.

The Loons feel hard done by as they again played well against the Los Angeles Galaxy but a few bounces didn’t go their way, namely a second consecutive own goal by starting striker Christian Ramirez.

“I feel for the boys at the end of the game because they didn’t deserve to come out of the game without anything,” Heath said. “I don’t want to be like a lovable loser but it’s the last couple of weeks that we’ve gone through that.”

The numbers seems to back Heath up as his side aggressively out possessed the Galaxy for stretches of the match and Minnesota registered 22 total shots. Heath maintains that despite the results, his players are performing at a high level.

“You can win a game 1-nil very luckily, not play well and invariably that will catch up with you,” Heath said. “I’m really pleased the way we’ve gone about it these last few weeks.”

United took a further blow versus LA as Heath revealed Abu Danladi, who was substituted in the first half of the 2-1 loss on Sunday, will likely be out for two to three weeks. Danladi was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, but one of the few flaws in his game talked about by scouts going in was his lengthy injury history.

“We could have done without that, but hey, it is what it is, and now we have to move on,” Heath said. “We’ll have to wait and see who maybe steps up.”
