Minnesota United Head Coach Adrian Heath now has his first match — albeit a scrimmage — under his belt with his new squad.
It was Heath’s comments after the friendly on Tuesday that gave the first deep insight into this squad’s pecking order. Heath said that everybody played expect for players he expects to be starters, according to the StarTribune.
The list of those players and their position are as follows:
Kevin Veneges, right back
Francisco Calvo, center back
Rasmus Schuller, center defensive midfield
Kevin Molino, winger/center attacking midfield
Afterward, Heath pointed the four players he felt performed the best on the pitch, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
“I thought (center back) Brent Kallman was excellent when he played… (Mohammed) Saeid and (Collen) Warner I thought were very, very good. Miguel Ibarra when he came on was very good.”
Heath also commented on the possibility of United adding FC Copenhagen winger Bashkim Kadrii. “We’re actively trying to push that along to see if we can get it over the line or not,’’ Heath told the Strib. “We want an answer in the next day or so if we can, and we’d do it. If we can’t, then we’ll move on to other options.”
Here is a solid video of Kadrii highlights. I must say, many of his plays are stunning — I don’t care what league you play in, the technique he demonstrates herein are that of a quality player.
The squad numbers I could distinguish from the MNUFC scrimmage video are as follows:
No. 7 – Ibson
No. 10 – Ibarra
No. 9 – Danladi
No. 21 – Ramirez
No. 16 – Lance Laing
No. 2 – Justin Davis
No. 14 – Brent Kallman
No. 28 – Eugene Starikov (who was the standout performer in the embedded highlight video).
