Reports: Quarterback Demry Croft to Transfer from Gophers

Sophomore quarterback Demry Croft for the Minnesota Golden Gophers is set to transfer out of the program the day after the season concluded, according to ESPN.

After competing for the job in the opening two weeks, Croft lost the starting role to Conor Rhoda. However, he returned soon in the week five Michigan State matchup. After subbing in for Rhoda in the second half, he passed for 163 yards and three scores.

Croft went on to start the final six games of the season, finishing with 674 passing yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 41.8 percent of his passes. He added 309 yards and four scores on the ground, averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

The dual-threat quarterback will have two remaining years of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career. He showed flashes against Michigan State and Nebraska, but was also shut down in games against Northwestern and Wisconsin.

With Croft on the move and Rhoda set to graduate, the question at quarterback for next season will be a question Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck will have to answer in the offseason.
