After Monday morning’s walkthrough, Terence Newman predicted it wouldn’t be long before tempers flared and the Vikings had their first training camp fight.
Turns out, he was clairvoyant.
After a heated WR vs DB jump ball drill in which Laquon Treadwell caught a touchdown pass on Antone Exum Jr., the second-year wide receiver and fourth-year defensive back came to blows.

Those close to the fight said there were several minutes of jawing that led up to the scuffle. As seen in the video, Adam Thielen tried playing peace-maker and was caught in the crossfire. After practice he said the fight occurred because players were getting “tired and cranky.”
For Exum, it was his eighth consecutive day of practice after reporting last week with the rookies. “Treadwell’s a great competitor. So am I,” Exum said. “Neither one of us backing down from anything out there.”
For Treadwell, it was his second consecutive year getting into a training camp skirmish with a defensive back after tangling with Jabari Price last year. He was held out of the rest of practice following Monday’s incident and would not speak with the media afterward.
