Gophers' Release Statements Regarding Basketball Suspensions

Prior to Minnesota’s game at Illinois Sunday night, the team suspended three players and released the following statement:

The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team announced that Kevin Dorsey, Nate Mason and Dupree McBrayer will not play Sunday night at Illinois after violating team rules.

“With the privilege of being a member of the University of Minnesota basketball program there are expectations and standards to which we hold our student-athletes accountable, and they have failed to do so,” head coach Richard Pitino said.

Rumors of an elicit video on Dorsey’s Twitter account have surfaced, but the Gophers have held their tongue as far as releasing any more information.

As was shared prior to Sunday’s game at Illinois, three members of the University of Minnesota men’s basketball program were disciplined for violating team rules and withheld from participating in the game.
Information related to individual student discipline is private educational data, and as a result we cannot share any additional information at this time.
