Molesky's Weekend Wagers: This is a Weak Weekend

The pickings are incredibly thin, as the worthy bowl games in college football are still too far out to flirt with and the NFL has a fair chalk slate of games. Meanwhile, the NBA has watched this week’s best games already pan out. However, a degenerate never backs down from the opportunity to throw down some green on any given weekend.

Here are my bets:

New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Betting Over On 53 Points

When two teams boasting deadly offense and future Hall-of-Fame talent go head to head, bet on the over. Through the last six meetings, this clash has resulted in more than 53 points three times.

Both sides have very flawed defensive units that give up over 300 yards per game, which means heading down the field will be of little consequence for quarterbacks Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger. This is also the meeting of the 2nd and 4th best total offenses in the NFL.

Points will come easy in this game.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Minnesota Vikings

Taking The Bengals +10.5 Point Spread

There is no way the Bengals offense, led by quarterback Andy Dalton, hits the road and beats the Vikings defense. But that does not mean that the A.J Green and Dalton combo will not take the back door cover.

Despite the immense amount of flaws on the Bengals, they do have a solid defense and really talented pieces on offense. The game will be low scoring, with Green and rookie running back Joe Mixon keeping the Bengals within seven to 10 points.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns

Taking The Ravens -7 Point Spread

The Browns one shot at winning a game was last week, now they probably go 0-16 which means if you did not take the 2.5 game under bet at the beginning of the season, well shame on you.

From weeks 11 to 13, the Ravens beat three opponents by seven or more points, then lost to the Steelers after racing up 38 points. Baltimore and its rejuvenated offense will have no problem winning by 10 or more points. Do not get sucked into the Browns almost beating Green Bay, and take the Browns spread. The Ravens defense is far better and will shut down their offense.

Chelsea @ Southampton

Taking The Chelsea -1.5 Point Spread

Usually, a favored team on the spread is right around -110 on the money line. Getting Chelsea by two goals over the 11th team in the Premier League along with a juicy +110 payout on the spread is too good to be true, so bet quickly.

Chelsea has had tight games as of late, going 1-1-1 in their last three matches. But their most recent outing was a trouncing of Huddersfield Town 3-1. Chelsea is the far superior team, holding a 17-goal differential this season Southampton’s negative-six. They will also be very motivated to run up the score after Tottenham just jumped two spots in Premier League and is hot on third-place Chelsea’s tail. Chelsea will come in looking to win in decisive fashion.

Other Bets

Oklahoma Sooners @ Wichita State Shockers

Taking The Sooners Money Line

Enough of the college basketball season has transpired to offer some conclusions and find consistencies throughout the country. One that stands is the Sooners traveling to play the No. 3 team in the country. While there are plenty of variables in the game, one thing is for certain: Sooners’ point guard Tre Young is the best player on the court.

The freshman guard is averaging 28.8 points and 8.8 assists per game, balling out to lead the Sooners to seven early wins. Oklahoma has averaged 93.3 points per contest to Wichita’s 86.9, along with 7.6 steals to 4.6. Both teams hover at right around 50 percent shooting and 18 assists. This will be a very tight game, but the Shockers do not have anyone that can stick with Young play for play down the stretch.
