ALLBRIGHT: Mitchell Trubisky Set for First Start Against Minnesota Vikings

According to Benjamin Allbright, the Chicago Bears are expected to name Mitchell Trubisky as their starter, which would place his first start ahead of a home matchup at Soldier Field against the Minnesota Vikings.

It will be difficult for any rookie to play their first game against a defense as high-flying as the Vikings, but it could still help the Bears. After a disastrous performance against Green Bay, Mike Glennon seemingly has proven he can no longer start for the storied franchise, and they may be better off rolling with their rookie.

Trubisky started off his preseason strong with a stellar performance against the Denver Broncos, but fell off a bit and didn’t throw many subsequent passes beyond ten yards. He was great in a clean pocket and when throwing 2.5 seconds after the snap, but struggled under pressure.

Given Trubisky’s athleticism and propensity to scramble, the Vikings should be careful creating open rushing lanes when they pressure him, but should still be quick to get into the backfield.
