The Minnesota Vikings thrashed the Cincinnati Bengals 34-7 at U.S. Bank Stadium Sunday and, in doing so, clinched the NFC North division.
Mike Zimmer’s defense suffocated Andy Dalton and the Bengals offense, allowing just 161 net yards, an astronomically-low number. The defense had a handful of sacks on their way to allowing just one third down conversion on 13 attempts, another insanely efficient and dominating performance.
Linebacker Eric Kendricks offered the game’s biggest splash play as he faked a blitz and dropped back into zone coverage, where he undercut a throw to Alex Erickson. Kendricks read Dalton’s eyes beautifully on the play and stormed into the end zone to give the team a 14-0 advantage.
The Vikings never looked back.
