Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher announced today that the Wild have re-signed minor league goaltender Alex Stalock to a two-year contract extension. This allows the club to protect All-Star netminder Devan Dubnyk in the upcoming expansion draft.
Stalock, 29, is 14-10-4 with a 2.56 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage and two shutouts in 29 games with Iowa in the American Hockey League this season.
The 6-foot, 187-pound native of Saint Paul, Minn., appeared in 13 games with the San Jose Sharks last season going 3-5-2 with a 2.94 GAA and a .884 SV%. He is 24-19-7 with a 2.37 GAA, a .911 SV% and four shutouts in 62 career NHL games during parts of five seasons with San Jose and 0-1 with a 2.05 GAA and a .929 SV% in three Stanley Cup playoff contests.
Stalock played three seasons at the University of Minnesota Duluth (2006-09) and ranked first in the NCAA in minutes played and led the Bulldogs to the WCHA playoff championship and the NCAA West Regional Final in 2009.
