Less than one week after a university investigation found him responsible for a sexual assault that occurred on April 28, 2016, Gophers senior basketball player Reggie Lynch has been found responsible for another sexual assault that happened three weeks earlier, according to a report from the Pioneer Press.

Lynch, Minnesota’s starting center, was facing nearly a two-and-a-half year suspension from the first case that would have begun Tuesday, but Lynch appealed the decision with the Student Sexual Misconduct Subcommittee to delay the suspension. The new ruling, however, recommends immediate expulsion.

Lynch has five school days to appeal.

The latest incident reportedly occurred on April 7, 2016 at an off-campus location. It is chronologically the first of three assaults implicating Lynch. The first reported allegation stemmed from a May 2016 incident in which Lynch was accused and eventually cleared of sexual assault after police and university investigations.

The April 28 incident culminated in a ruling last Thursday that recommended Lynch be suspended until Aug. 1, 2020.

Numerous other women have spoken out about Lynch’s behavior on social media, saying the Edina, Minn., native carried a reputation that the athletic department was aware of as he started the first 16 games of the 2017-18 season.

Lynch continues to practice with the team but is not allowed to play.

Minnesota lost its first game without Lynch, dropping a 75-71 decision against Indiana on Saturday.

The Gophers face Northwestern at 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
