Denzel Ward, the former teammate of Marshon Lattimore can only hope to have the same level of pro success as last year’s New Orleans Saints first-round pick.
Lattimore, the Defensive Rookie of the Year a season ago, became an immediate shutdown corner in the NFL. Ward stands a couple inches shorter, however, but he makes up for it with ridiculous speed, which he showcased during a 4.32 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Ward doesn’t pop off the stat sheet with just two college interceptions and around 22 tackles per season, but sometimes corners’ numbers suffer because opposing teams intentionally avoid throwing at them. It’s safe to say Ward wasn’t being challenged all that often.
