The other shoe has fallen as part of the trades the Minnesota Twins made on Monday, as right-handed pitcher Trevor May has been recalled from Triple-A Rochester to take the final roster spot vacated by the Lance Lynn trade.

The team announced the move on Tuesday afternoon in advance of game two of the Cleveland Indians series.

Reliever Addison Reed was activated from the disabled list to fill the spot vacated by Zach Duke.

May missed the entire 2017 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and had spent the entire year this season rehabbing and then working his way back at Triple-A Rochester. The Twins activated May from the 60-day disabled list on June 7, and optioned him to Triple-A to get a little more work with the Red Wings.

In 27 innings with Rochester this season — 13 outings, four starts — May has a 4.00 ERA and 25-16 K/BB ratio (8.3 K/9) with a 1.48 WHIP.

May has been especially good since returning from the DL at Rochester due to right shoulder inflammation. May missed the second half of June, but hasn’t allowed an earned run since coming back:

  • 0.00 ERA in 9.1 innings
  • 9-3 K/BB ratio
  • .129/.206/.194 slash line against

May, who turns 29 in late September, will work out of the bullpen for the foreseeable future.
