ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday morning that Minnesota Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs plans to sign a five-year extension that will kick in next season, keeping him with the team until he is 30 years old.

Diggs will be the latest in a hefty list of extensions the Vikings wanted to execute before the season. They’ve now locked up Eric Kendricks, Danielle Hunter and Diggs in the last three months, leaving only Anthony Barr without a new deal.

Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported the deal will be worth around $14 million per season. That comes in just under the recent deals signed by Jarvis Landry ($15.1M per year) and Davante Adams ($14.5M per year).

Mike Zimmer said Saturday he’s content with the team awarding so many eight-figure deals, even though it could cause some cap inflexibility down the road.

“At some point we might have to worry about it, but right now we’re just trying to get the best 53 guys that we can,” Zimmer said. “We’ll worry about the contracts and all this stuff later.”

Diggs said throughout the spring and summer that he hoped to remain with the Vikings. Now he’ll be with them through 2023 and get to team up with Adam Thielen for at least the next three seasons.

“I want to be here, I love it here, I love being a part of this organization,” said Diggs. “They took a chance on me early on, so I love it here.”

Diggs and general manager Rick Spielman will address reporters Tuesday at training camp.
