Weekend Update: Waving Goodbye to 2018

The final weekend of 2018. Let’s check the hockey schedule and see what matchups await.

Wild: 12/29 at Jets, 3 P.M.

Minnesota tries to snap a five-game losing streak as it takes on the Central Division-leading Jets. Oh, how times have changed since the two last met on Black Friday.

Gophers Men’s: 12/28 vs Ferris State, 7 P.M. 12/29 vs Ferris State, 7 P.M.

Minnesota returns to action for the first time in three weeks as it hosts Ferris State at Mariucci Arena. The Gophers were 1-0-3 going into their holiday break.

Gophers Women’s: off

It has been nearly two months since the Gophers have lost as they enjoy a nice 17-2-1 record at the holiday break. They return to action the next weekend for the Minnesota Cup tournament at Ridder Arena.

Bulldogs Men’s: 12/28 vs. Minnesota State-Mankato, 5:30 P.M. 12/29 vs. Arizona State/Clarkson, TBD

The fourth-ranked Bulldogs are out in Glendale, Ariz. this weekend for the Desert Hockey Classic. They take on in-state rival Mankato on Friday night before playing either host Arizona State or Clarkson on Saturday depending on their outcome.

Bulldogs Women’s: off

The Bulldogs women’s team remains off until next weekend when they take part in the Minnesota Cup tournament.

Huskies Men’s: off

The USNTDP U18 team defeated St. Cloud 6-4 on Thursday evening. The Huskies are now off this weekend and will return to action on Jan. 4 against Union College.

Huskies Women’s: off

St. Cloud State is also off until Jan. 5 when it takes part in the Minnesota Cup Tournament.

Mavericks Men’s: 12/28 vs UMD, 5:30 P.M. 12/29 vs Arizona State/Clarkson, TBD

After taking on in-state rival Duluth on Friday night, the Mavericks will play either Arizona State or Clarkson in the Desert Hockey Classic in Glendale this weekend.

Mavericks Women’s: off

Mankato’s women’s team also remains off until next weekend as it takes part in the Minnesota Cup Tournament.

Beavers Men’s: 12/28 at Air Force, 8 P.M. 12/29 at Air Force, 6 P.M.

Prior to the holiday break, the Beavers split their last two series. They now begin a four-game road stretch at Air Force this weekend.

Beavers Women’s: off

The Beavers remain off this weekend as they enjoy the holiday break. They return to action next weekend against Union.
