Twins Recall Lefty Andrew Vasquez

The Minnesota Twins have recalled left-handed reliever Andrew Vasquez, according to the player’s agent Gavin Kahn on Twitter.

The Twins have not confirmed the move, nor the corresponding one, though the smart money is on some kind of resolution with Chase De Jong, who threw 46 pitches in just one inning of work in Tuesday night’s win over the New York Mets.

The 25-year-old Vasquez threw five scoreless innings in big-league camp this spring, and posted a 5.40 ERA as a September call-up last season in five innings. Vasquez sprinted through the Twins system in 2018, starting at High-A Fort Myers — including making the Florida State League All-Star team — before reaching the big leagues for the season’s final month.

Vasquez had made one appearance for the Rochester Red Wings this season, striking out four batters in 1.1 innings of work.
