A two-time 1,000-yard rusher — and nearly three-time if he didn’t have to give up so many reps to Josh Jacobs — Damien Harris was the other Alabama who has a very high ceiling in his own right. Contributed for the Crimson Tide from 2015-18, averaged over 7.0 yards per carry as a sophomore and junior, and showed some wiggle in the passing game as a senior. Finished top 10 all-time in program rushing after being a five-star recruit coming out.

Doesn’t have the elusiveness of some of the draft’s other backs and has never been in a workhorse role. Harris never had a game with 20 carries in his career. But with good strength and explosiveness on his side, Harris could still be a durable NFL back.

What the analysts say

“Disciplined and rugged with a very strong sense of who he is as a running back. He operates with a good feel for blocking schemes and finds the designed yards while adding extra with his power and some elusiveness. He lacks game-breaking juice as a runner and will need to keep his weight down or he’ll end up in the “grinder” category of runners. Harris is more likely to be good than great as a pro, but his size, every-down game and ball security give him a chance to have fruitful career as a solid starter.” — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

“Harris has been the model of consistency for Alabama, and I think an NFL team knows exactly what its getting from him at the next level. A powerful runner with excellent vision, Harris has terrific balance, control and enough burst to command 10-15 touches per game. He features a baseline receiving skill set and the traits needed to succeed in pass protection, making him an every down option. He should be complemented by a more elusive back in a tandem, but Harris can be the power option in a productive split backfield.” — Joe Marino, The Draft Network
