Lonnie “Lotto” Johnson comes from the same path as Minnesota Vikings corner Mike Hughes, a juco transfer that thrived at Garden City Community College before achieving Division I status. His two-year career at Kentucky gave him two years of SEC experience. Managed just one interception, but blocked two kicks on special teams. Part of the reason for his lack of production was his ability to repel targets on his side of the field (usually the right). Needs to do better work as a tackler but has the size to be physical in that area. Johnson profiles nicely as a press corner on the boundary.

He has enough athleticism to make it as a cornerback, but he could be tied to a press-and-trail scheme where some of his coverage deficiencies can be covered up. “Johnson played primarily on the right side of the formation, sometimes going full games without flipping over to the left. He doesn’t lack athleticism for the position, which gives him a relatively high ceiling when coupled with his large frame. Will fit into another cover 3 based scheme in the NFL, but don’t underrate his ability to play man coverage against vertical routes along the boundary.
