With only one good year on tape, Riley Ridley is hoping teams buy into his potential. Ridley compiled just 26 catches through his first two seasons before earning more opportunity as a junior and racking up nine touchdowns – may as well call him “Red Zone” Ridley. While not necessarily gifted with deep speed or leaping ability, Ridley found a way to make tough catches in traffic. Reduced his drops each year and caught over 70 percent of his targets in 2018. His underwhelming combine and smaller body of work, though, make him less of a sure thing.

What the analysts say

“Physical possession receiver who wins with attention to detail in his routes, plus body control and sure hands. Ridley isn’t the fastest receiver on the block, but there is enough under the engine to race cornerbacks down the field if he’s challenged on an island. His separation windows may always be a little tighter, but his timing and ability to turn contested catches in his favor should make him a better pro than college player with an upside of WR2.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

“Ridley is a well-rounded prospect who was held back in college due to offensive scheme and surrounding talent. He easily projects as a better pro player in a passing offense than his production in college. With the tools to play most receiving spots and plus athleticism, he has few weaknesses in his game. Expect Ridley to be a sought after commodity on Day 2 of the NFL Draft because of his enticing tools. Projecting to the next level, his ceiling is that of the main option on a passing offense, but likely not one that will dominate targets.” – Brad Kelly, The Draft Network
