NBA – Timberwolves/Mavericks Over 231 (-110): 7:00 PM on Fox Sports North
A couple of weeks ago we created a list of “over” and “under” teams on my podcast and since then they have followed suit.
Both of these teams no surprise were on the overs list. When Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are both in the lineup for the Dallas Mavericks this offense is lethal. The Minnesota Timberwolves have looked better on defense lately but their young and upbeat offensive style should help this game go over once again.
231 isn’t that high of a number for two teams that can get into the 120s any given night, especially when matched up against one another. Check the injury report to make sure Doncic, Porzingis, and Karl-Anthony Towns are all playing and lock it in. Expect a lot of shots/possessions in this one and let’s hope enough of them go in.
NCAA Basketball – Pepperdine/Coastal Carolina Over 155 (-110): 7:00 PM CT on FloSports
Oh, you thought we forgot about the prestigious College Basketball Invitational, did you? Well, we didn’t, and tonight’s championship game should be a fast-paced affair with plenty of scoring.
These are two high-volume teams. Pepperdine has the 45th most possessions per game, and Coastal is right behind at 52nd most. The Chanticleers also give up a lot of second-chance opportunities as they’re 238th in offensive rebounds allowed. A team like Pepperdine with a dynamic scoring duo in Colbey Ross and Kessler Edwards will cash in those opportunities, especially with the Waves scoring well above their season average in points during the postseason.
They’ve also been allowing 4 PPG more in tournament play than the regular season, so a Coastal team who loves to run and was 19th in scoring this season will get plenty of buckets. These teams have been playing fast and loose in this tournament and I expect that to continue here, so take the over.
