MLB American League ML (+105) vs. National League: 7:00 PM CT on FOX
This comes down to how dominant the American League has been in the All-Star Game for almost 40 years and the fact that you’re getting a slight plus-money return on them tonight. The AL is 27-9-1 in this event since 1983, and more recently are 16-3-1 this century including 7 straight. It’s tough for me to look at that level of consistency and not favor the AL tonight.
The fact that they aren’t favored is pretty surprising, so the plus juice gets my attention. It’s impossible to predict which players will get subbed or how long pitchers will go, but trends and a plus-money return are worth trusting, in my opinion.
Bonus Bet: First 5 Innings Over 5.5 (-110):
I’m really not impressed by the pitchers in this game, especially considering the National League’s four best arms opted not to play. That leaves the best hitters in the world up against replacement pitchers at Coors Field, so I like the chances for some early runs.
I’d also point out that AL starter Shohei Ohtani is probably a little tired from the home run derby last night combined with the altitude, and NL starter Max Scherzer is fresh off allowing a grand slam to a Triple-A reliever. I see value in this first five total being exactly half of the full game, so I’ll count on some scoring early tonight.
