MLB – Philadelphia Phillies/New York Yankees Over 9 (-110): 6:05 PM CT on YES

Both these teams might have their issues – especially the New York Yankees – but this pitching matchup is too juicy to ignore.

Starting for New York tonight due to a lack of options is Asher Wojciechowski, and his call-up from the minors has me recalling the good old days of him consistently giving up lots of runs in a Baltimore Orioles uniform. The left-handed bats for the Philadelphia Phillies like Bryce Harper should crush Wojcichowski, who gets hit hard by lefties, especially with the wind blowing out to the short porch in right for this game.

And as patchwork as the Yankees roster might be right now, I have little confidence in Philadelphia starter Matt Moore, nor the bad Phillies bullpen that will come in early as Moore rarely gets five innings of work. This number is relatively low because of those roster issues plaguing the Yankees, but there’s still plenty of offensive firepower in this game that can exploit the bad pitching, so I’m looking to the over.

MLB – Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox -1.5 (+125): 7:10 PM CT on Bally Sports North

The Minnesota Twins took a glimmer of hope last night and managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and I’m seeing a potential lopsided affair again tonight.

The Chicago White Sox now lead the season series 12-3, including 8-1 on the South Side, and the games have really not been close. The White Sox own a plus-49 run differential against the Twins this season, 10 of their 12 wins have covered the run line, and 7 of their 8 home wins have been by two-plus runs.

That’s remarkable consistency that almost makes the pitching matchup a moot point. But we see that Michael Pineda is 0-2 to the run line against Chicago this season, while Dylan Cease proves why he’s a much better home pitcher with two home wins over the Twins by a combined 16 runs. Minnesota already avoided the sweep in this 4-game series, so with a plus-juice return here I’ll count on another comfortable White Sox win over this imploding Twins team.
