Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has thrown touchdowns to more than 40 different people during his tenure with the team. Wide receivers, tight ends, running backs, and fullbacks have all had the chance to catch a pass over the goal line and take that Lambeau Leap.
Besides those players, even more have caught passes and been a part of Rodgers’ career. We all know the legends like Greg Jennings, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, and James Jones. Davante Adams might go down as the best receiver ever with No. 12. Green Bay’s newest receiver, Amari Rodgers, might be able to join that legend list when all is said and done.
Then you have your fan favorites and receivers who Rodgers liked playing with, your Jeff Janises and Jake Kumerows. They might never reach the Hall of Fame, but they will always be on the tips of fans’ tongues and part of the green and gold’s legacy.
There are also some receivers you may have forgotten about completely. Let’s take a look at a few of them.
Brett Swain
Swain was drafted in the seventh round by the Packers in 2008 out of San Diego State. He was originally cut and returned to the team’s practice squad. He would remain with the team during the 2009 and 2010 seasons and even played in their last Super Bowl victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was mostly a special teams player with the Packers. While he had no receptions in 2009, he did have nine targets, six receptions, and 72 yards over six games in 2010. He was on the roster for all 16 games. He sadly never had a touchdown with the Packers.
The North Carolina native was released by Green Bay in August of 2011. He played with the San Francisco 49ers that year and even appeared in their playoff game when they beat the New Orleans Saints. He was released in August 2012 and did not play with a team that season.
In 2013, he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks but didn’t make it out of the preseason. Swain then played a season in the CFL for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. After leaving football, Swain returned to San Diego. He was a host of a Fox Sports show for a while but has been a life coach for more than five years now.
Ruvell Martin
Martin was originally signed by the San Diego Chargers after going undrafted but technically never played with them in 2004. He eventually played in NFL Europe, winning a World Bowl with the Amsterdam Admirals.
He was signed to the Packers practice squad in 2005. He didn’t join their active receiving group until 2006 and had two decent seasons under Brett Favre, catching 37 passes for 600 yards and five touchdowns.
Martin was also around for Rodgers’ first year as a starter. He had 15 receptions for 149 yards and a score with Aaron. That touchdown was sadly during a 51-29 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Martin then bounced around the NFL for a bit, joining the St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Buffalo Bills.
Martin was done catching passes in the NFL in 2012, but he wasn’t done with the league or the Green Bay Packers yet. In 2020, he was hired by Matt LaFleur. They were former college teammates at Saginaw Valley State, and his current role for the Packers is as a coaching assistant under the Minority Fellowship, a position for young and aspiring minority coaches for the NFL.
Trevor Davis
Davis played at both Hawaii and Cal and was drafted in the fifth round by Green Bay with the 163rd-overall pick. He had an impressive combine with his 40-yard dash and vertical jumps.
He was mostly used as a return specialist, but Davis did have three catches for 24 yards and a touchdown as a receiver during his rookie season in 2016. That would be the only touchdown pass of Davis’ career. In 2017, he had five receptions for 70 yards. Davis was on the injured reserve list twice in 2018 and only appeared in two games.
The Bay Area native was traded to the Oakland Raiders in September of 2019 for a sixth-round draft pick in 2020. He played in 14 games that year for the Raiders and then later the Miami Dolphins. During Week 4, Davis had two rushes for 74 yards with Oakland, including a 60-yard touchdown run.
In April of 2020, he signed a one-year contract with Chicago Bears but was released in late August. He then was signed to the Washington Football Team’s practice squad. He was recently released this year after the draft on May 3rd.
Technically, Davis is still an active NFL player. It remains to be seen if he will end up on a team this year. He could still end up on the Packers, but they seem to be pretty full at the receiver position currently.
