Brett Favre hasn’t necessarily rode off into the sunset. The man who took forever to retire has had a hard time keeping his name out of the headlines post-playing career. The latest revelation will not help. Anthony Antoine of NBC12 has released text messages showing Mississippi governor and others helping Brett Favre secure $5000000 of the state’s welfare funds to build a new volleyball Stadium for the University of Southern Mississippi.

Now, in response, one of Favre’s strongest allies has turned the other direction.

New York Times bestselling author of 10 books, Jeff Pearlman, penned one of the definitive biographies of Brett Favre entitled Gunslinger: The Remarkable, Improbable, Iconic Life of Brett Favre. After the leaked texts were posted this evening showing Favre’s despicable behavior in securing inappropriate funds from the government, Pearlman took to Twitter to tear Favre down.

Perlman certainly won’t be the last as this scandal will likely consume Favre and his reputation. It’s hard to steal from people in your own state and get away with it. Especially when there’s proof of you trying to make sure you can get away with it.
