Packers-Rams Is Perfect For A Fan’s First Game At Lambeau

For a Packers fan living in the Green Bay area, it’s not that hard to hit at least two or three games a season. I’ve been going to games since I was a kid. My grandma has had season tickets for decades. I’ll be there this Monday against the Los Angeles Rams. If you’ve never been to Lambeau Field before and always wanted to go, why not now?

My tickets are from the Brown County Lottery. If you aren’t aware, any Brown County resident can sign up at the Packers Pro Shop or online to enter a ticket lottery. If you are chosen, you are sent an invoice early in the year and then informed which game you have once the schedules are released.

Sometimes you get stuck with a preseason game, but then you are guaranteed a regular-season game the next year. You get four tickets, and usually in a corner in the 300 sections. Luckily, there is no real bad view at Lambeau.

If you don’t live in Brown County, don’t have friends with tickets, and have never been to see a Green Bay Packers game live, this Monday is your chance.

Tickets Are Cheap

When looking online this morning, the Ticketmaster app has tickets for $40 apiece. That is ridiculously cheap. I’ve heard all the excuses already. It’s a Monday. But it will be cold. Well, the teams aren’t that good. That used to not matter. It’s seeing a live NFL game for $40. You can’t even get Bucks nosebleed seats for that right now for that price. TickPick has them for $45.

Is Craiglist or Facebook Marketplace your thing? I have seen some for $40 there too. If your major hurdle is that the cost is too high, this is the game for you. Even with some fees, two tickets for under $100 is great. Am I bitter that I paid over $100 per ticket for four of them and now they aren’t close to that, even if I would try to sell them now? Sure, a little. But this is a good thing for folks who might not be able to afford some games or have been waiting for prices to drop.

Packers Are Still in Playoff Contention

Yes, a lot has to happen for Green Bay to still make the playoffs. It isn’t looking good — but they haven’t been eliminated yet.

Will the Packers win out? Probably not. The Rams seems like a win, but head coach Matt LeFleur does not have a good track record after the bye week. This could easily be another game the Green and Gold should win but don’t.

And even after Monday’s game, they still have to face the Miami Dolphins. The last two games are against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. In previous years, those two games wouldn’t seem like a huge deal. But both teams are playing well this year, even though the Vikings are total frauds.

But Green Bay is still in the race. That means, as of right now, the game isn’t meaningless. A lot of fans are giving up on a season that isn’t over yet. That means you will probably have a lively atmosphere fueled by fans who are just excited to be there, the ones who never say die. Instead of crabby season ticket holders who will tell you to sit down the whole time, you might see a bunch of people who still like to experience joy without complaining. That is a perfect game for a first-timer.

Aaron Rodgers Retirement Talk

It’s getting near the end of the season, which means it’s time to bring up Aaron Rodgers and retirement. Everyone is already speculating about whether he will play another season. He has lots of reasons why he will — literally tens of millions of them.

Will Jordan Love stick around in 2023? Can Rodgers possibly be traded? Will we wait in limbo for months to find out if he’s coming back? Probably the latter. But the drama has started, so I am required to mention the next paragraph.

If you’ve never been to Lambeau, this could possibly the only and last time you see Aaron Rodgers at home in a Packers uniform. Again, he will probably be here next year. But there is a slight chance this will be your only opportunity to experience it. There are no guarantees in life. And if you are a huge Packers fan, should you really pass up a chance to see him one more time, especially if it would be your first? You never forget your first time.

Advice While At Lambeau

Ok, so I’ve now convinced you to go to Lambeau. Obviously, it will be better to go to the game, stay the night, and then spend some time in Green Bay the next day. But if you are only going to the game, you can either spread out this advice or do it all the same day and night.

For parking, here is the best place to do it. When you get near Lambeau, find Mike McCarthy way. Go up to Bart Starr Dr. or get there from Lombardi. There will be free parking on the street on Bart Starr Dr. and Tony Canadeo Run. As long as you are there two to three hours early, you should be able to find something. Then walk to Badger State for a beer. If you need food, Green Bay Distillery has enough space to grab something and eat inside to stay warm.

Are your tickets for the other side of the field? No problem. Park in the neighborhoods behind the new Titletown District. If might be a farther walk, but if you don’t want to pay for parking, that is the place to go. Then head to Kroll’s West and get a butterburger. Then a beer at Hinterland before going in.

The first option is the one I always do, but you have plenty of things to see and do while at the game. But the point is, you can attend a Packers game this Monday for under $100. Especially if you’ve never been, it’s set up perfectly. A winter game at Lambeau Field against a team that should lead to a Packers victory. And you can get two tickets, free parking, and even bring your own dinner. It’s an amazing experience that is almost as cheap as a movie right now.

Let’s pack Lambeau with fun and loud people.
