Rasul Douglas Has Harsh Words For Green Bay 'We Suck Cause We Suck'

We are currently in uncharted territory for the Green Bay Packers. A 3-6 start has the organization, media and fanbase searching for answers.

For many younger Packers fans, this is the first true adversity they’ve seen their team face. Many will learn quickly that when the season goes bad, you see things you don’t normally see.

For example, players that aren’t normally vocal being very honest about what’s happening. Enter Rasul Douglas.

When a reporter tried to give a potential list of reasons that the teams is struggling, Douglas wasn’t willing to accept any of the excuses.

“We suck cause we suck” was just one of many grim moments in the above two minute long video. Make sure you’ve clicked to watch the whole thing. Douglas‘s words and body language are a window into the reality of this current team and locker room. His insistence that the team keeps doing the same bad stuff over and over is an indictment on not just the players execution but the coaches approach. Defensive players continue to get louder and louder week after week as the fanbase continues to call for Joe Barry‘s job. It’s no surprise that a cornerback is willing to stand up and echo the sentiment of repeated mistakes and unchanged approach.

The defeated nature with which Douglas answers the question is almost enough to dispel any belief that the team is close to turning this around. Douglas looks like a man who is on the verge of either quitting or starting a revolution, as opposed to bringing things together. Now obviously that is just an opinion from one man who watched his statement, but if I was a betting man I would put my money on these defensive players looking done.

On the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Aaron Rodgers was asked how you respond during a season like this. Rodgers responded that you have one of two paths, you can either check out and start treating it like a job where you show up, do your work, and go home. Or you can dig deep and compete. I truly believe Rodgers will be one of the people who, regardless of the situation, always digs deep and competes. But you have to wonder how many of the rest of the guys on this team, and specifically on this defense, will do the same. Douglas’ answer doesn’t bode well for those hoping to see a rally.
