Let the apology tour begin! The once 4-8 Green Bay Packers are now 8-8 and officially in control of their own destiny heading into Week 18.

Throughout this difficult season, the national sports media has been more than happy to label the Packers as a terrible, dysfunctional, lost cause. Talking heads on morning shouting shows couldn’t stop telling you how much of a disaster Green Bay’s 4-8 start was. Unfortunately, most in the sports world will simply move on. They will never own up to their over-the-top criticisms now that the Packers are ascending. But the loudest of them all is not shying away from owning up.

Om ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith rolled out a red carpet-style apology to the Green Bay Packers for his early season takes.

Normally this is the part of an article where I would type out some of the quotes and react to them, but I’m not gonna do that. The whole clip is just so damn good that you have to watch it from start to finish.

Aaron Rodgers has once again proven it’s unwise to write off a Hall of Fame quarterback and a strong organization. Despite the record, this team might be more equipped to do damage in the playoffs than the last couple years. With nothing but criticism behind them, they are playing completely with house money. No pressure. Just a young, (mostly) and fun team that can get a win against Detroit and then walk into San Francisco and do something to the 49ers that they have done to Green Bay for years…ruin a Super Bowl contender’s big year.
