To draw a loose comparison, Tyree Jackson has some similarities to the Josh Allen profile from the 2018 Draft: smaller school, big body, rocket arm, accuracy issues. Those are all true for Jackson, whose size, speed and arm strength make him a dual threat, although he wasn’t a big runner either of the previous two seasons. Jackson’s Buffalo career ended with 49 touchdowns through the air and 16 on the ground. Can throw the ball effortlessly, often deep downfield, and handled pressure fairly well in college. The step up in class to the NFL will be a big test.

What the analysts say

“Intriguing developmental quarterback who puts check marks in the ever-so-popular “size” and “arm talent” boxes. Jackson’s right arm is more shotgun than rifle with scattershot accuracy and a lack of touch that prevents him from finding a rhythm from the pocket. Jackson clearly has talent and his ability to make flash throws will be alluring to a team hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, but without sustainable accuracy, average backup could be his ceiling.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

“Buffalo QB Tyree Jackson presents some fascinating tools that make him a desirable developmental passer. Jackson has a big time arm, some two-way athleticism and prototypical size to play in the NFL. That said, Jackson’s mechanics often cause high variance in his accuracy and he’s not polished with his decision making, he requires notable coaching and nurturing before he’s asked to start.” – Kyle Crabbs, The Draft Network
