Grant Delpit grew up in Louisiana and fulfilled his dream of winning a championship with the LSU Tigers. He started as a true freshman after being a four-star recruit and compiled eight interceptions with 24 passes defended over his three-year career. Has great size at 6-foot-2. Was among the nation’s best players as a sophomore, earning first-team All-American status before regressing a bit as a junior, though some of his issues have been attributed to an ankle injury, which kept him from the combine. Delpit plays physically but struggles as a tackler.

Lance Zierlein, NFL.com: “Aggressive, urgent striker with good upside who posted a disappointing follow-up to an exciting 2018 campaign. His evaluation requires a full load of 2018 tape, where his coverage potential was better illustrated. He transitions with instinctive eyes and plays physically against tight ends. Willingness to rush in and hit has never been a problem in the alley or in his fits, but tackle inconsistencies have plagued him throughout his career due to angles and technique that could be challenging to fix. LSU sources say NFL teams won’t be getting the alpha leadership Jamal Adams provided for the Tigers, but Delpit should find a starting role early in his career as a versatile safety with big nickel potential.”
Joe Marino, Draft Network: “Delpit brings a lot to the table and he projects favorably to becoming a high-impact safety in the NFL. He’s versatile, physical, urgent, smart, athletic and his skill set is perfect for matching up against the pace and space present in today’s NFL offenses. Tackling has been a notable wart in Delpit’s film but he improved considerably in 2019, playing with more control and wrapping up with more consistency. Delpit’s presence will make an NFL scheme more multiple and there just isn’t anything he can’t do on the field. He has the upside to become one of the best players at his position by Year Three with the upside to start right away.”
