Twins Trade Dozier to Los Angeles Dodgers

Two years after they targeted him, but settled for Tampa Bay’s Logan Forsythe instead, the Los Angeles Dodgers have their man. According to a report from Dan Hayes and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers have acquired Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier. #Dodgers close to acquiring Brian Dozier from #MNTwins, sources tell me and @DanHayesMLB. — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) July 31, 2018 Jerry Crasnick of ESPN has confirmed the deal: Brian Dozier has been traded to the #Dodgers. Deal is done. @Ken_Rosenthal reported close. — Jerry Crasnick (@jcrasnick) July 31, 2018 Dozier has been in the big leagues with the Twins for seven seasons, hitting .248/.325/.447 with 167 home runs. He was a first-time Gold Glover in 2017, an All-Star in 2015 and has made an appearance on MVP ballots in each of the last three seasons. He’s having a bit of a down year this year, as he’s hitting […]

WARNE: 2017 World Series Preview

The World Series kicks off Tuesday night in Los Angeles, and despite what ad executives might say about ratings, it’s hard to be disappointed by the matchup. After all, it’s only the eighth time that two 100-win teams have met in the Fall Classic, and the first since 1970. For most of the season, the Houston Astros were the best team in the American League. The proverbial tortoise caught the hare as the Cleveland Indians reeled off a 22-game winning streak in August to usurp the Astros and ultimately grabbed home-field advantage throughout the playoffs by just a single game, but Houston got the last laugh as Cleveland blew a 2-0 lead — hold your jokes, please — and was eliminated by the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series. The Astros had to play some catchup of their own against the Yankees, winning 4-3 in the ALCS […]

WARNE: An LCS Preview for Each Side

The field is set for the MLB’s version of the Final Four. The Los Angeles Dodgers are tan, fit and rested and ready to open up the NLCS against a Chicago Cubs team that had to pull out all the stops — including one in Albuquerque on the way to California — to take down the Washington Nationals in a topsy-turvy five-game series. It’s an NLCS rematch from last year, with similar dynamics at play. How will Clayton Kershaw hold up, and what does the Dodgers rotation — and worse yet, their bullpen — look like behind him? Can a tired Cubs pitching staff outlast the Dodgers? Last year in the playoffs, the Cubs came into the series having thrown nearly 250 more pitches than the Dodgers. This year, that gap is a bit more….pronounced, one might say: Entering the NLCS last year, the Dodgers had thrown 820 pitches and […]

7/26: Twins Blow Another Lead, Swept by the Dodgers in Los...

The Minnesota Twins fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night in the final game of the three-game series. The Dodgers quickly fell behind 5-0, but still managed to find a way to win. The Dodgers tied the game up in the eighth inning and they knew they had a chance to win the game with all of the momentum in their favor. “There’s no exact recipe,” Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner told the Associated Press. “It’s different ways every night. Getting ahead, coming from behind, getting down to our last strike. There’s a lot of fight. A lot of guys who believe if we still have outs, we still have a chance to win the game.” The Twins offensively were led by Zack Granite and Brian Dozier who each produced RBI doubles. Joe Mauer also produced a two-run RBI single to increase the lead to 5-0. But against […]

REPORT: Twins Trade LHP Jason Wheeler to Dodgers for Cash

While the Minnesota Twins are putting the screws to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim — 7-0 in the fifth inning at last check — the front office has been busy, as lefty Jason Wheeler is also headed west, to the Los Angeles Dodgers according to LaVelle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Source: The Twins have traded Jason Wheeler to the Dodgers for cash. — LaVelle E. Neal III (@LaVelleNeal) June 3, 2017 The Twins have not yet confirmed the move. Wheeler spent the entire 2015 season on the Twins 40-man roster, but was outrighted after a rough season (5.43 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 5.9 K/9) across two levels that year. Wheeler rebounded to post a solid season between Chattanooga and Rochester last season (3.30 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 7.2 K/9), and got his feet wet with his first cup of coffee in the big leagues this season. The Twins […]
