As a redshirt senior, 23-year-old Amani Oruwariye finally got an opportunity as a full-time starter and made the most of it for Penn State. As a part-time player had four interceptions as a junior and added three more in 2018, giving him a two-year total of seven in the Penn State secondary. Stats show he bent a bit more in the passing game with the larger sample size last season, but he held up well as a tackler, and his 6-foot-2 size is compelling for teams interested in press corners. Was a Jim Thorpe Award semi-finalist and first-team All-Big Ten.

Size

6-2, 205 pounds

Combine notables

40-yard dash: 4.47 seconds
Bench: 17 reps (T5th best at position)
Vertical: 36.5 inches
Broad jump: 120 inches (T4th worst at position)
3-cone drill: 6.82 seconds (T6th best at position)

What the analysts say

“He can be an effective press-man defender, but must win at the line of scrimmage or he could become an early target for quarterbacks as he lacks makeup speed once he’s beaten. Oruwariye is a proven disruptor at the catch point and is willing to step up and take on run support duties. When all factors are considered, he’ll be considered a scheme fit for zone-heavy teams who covet physicality in press.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

“Amani Oruwariye is a starting cornerback at the NFL level. His scheme fit could range from press man coverage to Cover-3. Oruwariye doesn’t show great click and close ability, so off-man isn’t the most desirable role. But Oruwaryie shows great traits in his backpedal and when able to get his hands on receivers does well to re-route their release. Also effective in run support, Oruwariye has ample qualities that should prove to be an asset for almost any team in the NFL.” – Kyle Crabbs, The Draft Network
