A prospect who’s overcome a lot of adversity, Kaleb McGary could loom largely as a Day 3 pick. McGary underwent numerous surgeries to clear up a heart arrythmia issue late in his high school career, as well as dealing with the loss of his family’s house to a fire. Through that, McGary became the top Pac-12 lineman of the 2018 season as a fifth-year senior. McGary, with uncanny size, played right tackle the final 3.5 years of his eligibility and proved to be extremely durable. He proved he could move well at the NFL Combine and may be a sleeper in this draft.

What the analysts say
“McGary has been a right tackle his entire career, but that could change once his athletic limitations are challenged by NFL-caliber rushers. He would benefit from a move inside to guard where his strength and ability to generate movement as a run blocker would outweigh his issues with lateral quickness. McGary could find early starter’s reps at guard, but struggles with balance and keeping blocks centered could lead to early growing pains that will require a team’s patience.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
“McGary was a 3.5 year starter for the Huskies and capped his career being honored as the Pac 12 offensive lineman of the year. Despite enjoying a productive college career, McGary needs an overhaul with his technique to find success at the next level. His footwork in pass pro, erratic hand usage and lack of bend need major refinement. There’s a lot to like about his raw power and tenacity as a blocker so there’s hope if he embraces a growth mindset and learns new techniques while forgetting bad habits. A move inside to guard actually may be his best chance to stick. McGary is a developmental offensive lineman.” – Joe Marino, The Draft Network
