Wild Recall Joel Eriksson Ek From Iowa

The Minnesota Wild announced Wednesday morning that they have recalled forward Joel Eriksson Ek from their AHL affiliate, Iowa.

Eriksson Ek — Minnesota’s 2015 first-round draft pick — had been sent down, along with Luke Kunin — Minnesota’s 2016 first round pick — on Nov. 21 after a period of inconsistent play. In the seven games with Iowa following the demotion, Eriksson Ek compiled three goals and four assists while playing on Iowa’s top line alongside Kunin and Justin Kloos.

In 20 games with Minnesota prior to his demotion, Eriksson Ek, 20, compiled just three points (one goal-two assists) while averaging 12:47 of ice time. He is expected to be in the lineup on Friday night when Minnesota returns to action in Anaheim at 9 p.m.
