FIRST REPORT: Gophers Suspend Three Players For Season

A nightmarish Gophers basketball season took yet another downward turn Tuesday when sophomore Nate Mason and freshmen Dupree McBrayer and Kevin Dorsey, Jr., were suspended for the remainder of the season.

The suspensions come on the heels of a graphic video being posted Friday night to Dorsey’s Twitter account, which was deleted shortly after the video was posted. It’s unclear how McBrayer and Mason were involved.

While head coach Richard Pitino has yet to speak to the cause of the suspensions, University officials have confirmed to the Star Tribune that the social media post Friday was being investigated.

Minnesota (2-14 in conference) has two regular season games remaining before the Big Ten tournament, and they’ll now have to play without three key contributors, not to mention senior Carlos Morris, who was dismissed from the program in mid-February.

Below is a portion of Pitino’s opening statement to the media Tuesday evening as he addressed the suspensions.
