Vikings Sign OT Andre Smith to 1-Year Deal

The Minnesota Vikings have signed free agent Andre Smith to a one-year deal. Smith announced the signing himself on Twitter:

A source told the Star Tribune the deal could be worth up to $4.5 million with $1 million guaranteed.

Smith is expected to compete with Phil Loadholt, who has missed much of the past two seasons because of injuries, and last year’s starter T.J. Clemmings for the right tackle spot.

He was drafted sixth overall in 2009 by the Cincinnati Bengals. The 6-4, 335-pound right tackle has made 73 starts in seven seasons.
