5/30: A's Top Twins 3-2, Snap Four-Game Win Streak

The Minnesota Twins winning streak is over. So are Miguel Sano and Joe Mauer’s home run streaks. In fact, there was a bit of an offensive power outage against the Oakland Athletics on Monday afternoon.

A’s starter Kendall Graveman allowed only six hits and two earned runs in 6.0 innings and Oakland’s bullpen stifled the recently surging Twins offense to pull off the 3-2 victory.

“It’s a little disappointing, considering the matchup on paper and how we were swinging the bats,” manager Paul Molitor told the Associated Press. “Once they got the lead, their bullpen did a great job of shutting us down.”

Ervin Santana went 7.0 innings, giving up seven hits and three earned runs. Three times he allowed the first batter to reach base; three times that player scored.

“There’s not much to complain about the effort we got from [Santana],” Molitor said. “It was a good game, just not a lot offensively for us. It was a little disappointing [since we] liked the matchup heading in, especially with how well we’ve been playing.”
