Twins Make First Round of Cuts

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have optioned the following players to Triple-A Rochester:

Left-handed pitchers Pat Dean and Mike Strong, and outfielder Adam Brett Walker.

Left-handed pitcher Mason Melotakis and right-handed pitcher J.T. Chargois were optioned to Double-A Chattanooga while left-handed pitcher Randy Rosario and right-handed pitcher Yorman Landa were optioned to Single-A Ft. Myers.

Additionally, the Twins have reassigned right-handed pitcher Jake Reed, catcher Alex Swim, infielders Heiker Meneses and Engelb Vielma and outfielder Reynaldo Rodriguez to minor league camp.

The Twins now have 52 players in camp (19 non-roster): 24 pitchers (8 non-roster), 7 catchers (4 non-roster), 11 infielders (3 non-roster) and 10 outfielders (4 non-roster).
