Twins Option Berrios and Duffey

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have optioned right-handed pitchers Jose Berrios and Tyler Duffey to Triple-A Rochester.  Berrios recently made five starts for the Twins, going 1-3 with an 8.59 ERA (22.0 IP, 21 ER), 11 walks and 15 strikeouts since August 1.  Duffey made 22 starts for the Twins this season, going 8-10 with a 6.24 ERA (115.1 IP, 80 ER), 29 walks and 96 strikeouts.

To replace Berrios and Duffey on the 25-man roster, the Twins will recall left-handed pitcher Andrew Albersfrom Triple-A Rochester in time for tomorrow night’s game in Toronto, as well as make an additional move tomorrow.  The North Battleford, Saskatchewan native made one relief appearance for the Twins earlier this month, allowing five runs (3 earned) on 11 hits in 6.0 innings against Houston.  The 30-year-old has made 21 starts for Rochester this season, going 10-6 with a 3.69 ERA (124.1 IP, 51 ER), 30 walks, 84 strikeouts and two complete games.
