Twins Recall Tyler Duffey, Option Polanco

The Minnesota Twins announced yesterday that they will recall right-handed pitcher Tyler Duffey from Triple-A Rochester prior to this afternoon’s game.

Duffey will make the start this afternoon against Washington, in place of right-handed pitcher Ervin Santana, who is suffering from a sore lower back.  Duffey made three starts for the Red Wings, going 0-0, with a 1.72 ERA (15.2 IP, 3 ER), seven walks and 13 strikeouts.

To make room for Duffey on the 25-man roster, the Twins optioned infielder Jorge Polanco to Triple-A Rochester after today’s game.
