The Minnesota Twins announced today that Trevor Plouffe is expected to return from his rehab assignment and be reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list prior to tomorrow night’s game vs. Houston.

Plouffe has appeared in five games on rehab assignment for Triple-A Rochester, hitting .316 (6-for-19) with two doubles, one home run and two RBI. Plouffe, who was placed on the disabled list on July 2, missed 32 games with a fractured rib on his left side after being hit by a pitch on June 29.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned Byron Buxton to Triple-A Rochester.  Buxton played in 63 games for the Twins this season, hitting .193 (38-for-197) with 13 doubles, four triples, one home run and 20 runs scored.
