The Minnesota Wild set a new team record of 19,062 for average single-game attendance in a season, with a season-high 19,247 attending the final 2015-16 regular-season home game on April 9. Saturday’s game also marks the 600th sellout in franchise history including preseason and playoff games.
Total attendance for the 40 regular season games played at Xcel Energy Center was 762,481. Another 50,426 attended the 2016 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series Game on Feb. 21 at TCF Bank Stadium. Every regular-season home game at Xcel Energy Center was a sellout with 35 contests topping 19,000 in attendance.
“We give tremendous thanks to our season ticket holders,” said Wild owner and Chairman Craig Leipold. “They are the lifeblood of our team, and continually inspire us to deliver the best experience imaginable on and off the ice.”
The Wild has sold out 106 straight regular-season games and all 26 playoff games in franchise history – with each postseason contest surpassing 19,000 in attendance. The official seating capacity for Minnesota Wild games is 17,954. Standing-room only tickets allow for additional capacity.
A regular-season attendance record of 779,974 fans at Xcel Energy Center was set last season with an average of 19,024 per game. Regular-season attendance has topped 750,000 a total of 12 times in 15 seasons, one of them being a shortened season. During the 2000-01 campaign, Minnesota set an NHL expansion team attendance record when it drew 751,472 fans in 41 regular season home dates.
The Wild sold out the first 409 games in team history, including 369 regular season games, 27 preseason contests and 13 playoff games. The club’s sellout streak of 409 games was the third-longest recorded sellout streak in NHL history behind Colorado (487) and Detroit (452).
The largest crowd ever to see a Wild game at Xcel Energy Center is 19,416 on May 16, 2014, in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinal Series against the Chicago Blackhawks.
