Molesky's Weekend Wagers: Houston Texans Worth the Bet

Not only is the World Series already underway, the ninth week of college football is paired with the eighth week of the NFL and it all crosses with the second week of the NBA, not to mention the NHL! As gamblers, we are truly blessed. All four major sports are in full swing one way or another, so let the gambling commence. In the words of Big Sean:

“Last night took an L, but tonight I bounce back.”

Here are the bets of the weekend:

My Bets

Taking Money Lines On Penn State (+200), Louisiana Tech (-530), Notre Dame (-275) and Miami (-1410) For A Parlay- There are some interesting ones in here, with the Miami Hurricanes taking on a terrible North Carolina team. Meanwhile, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have proven they can win games by pounding their opponents on the ground. The Louisiana tech Bulldogs play Rice, one of the worst teams in college football.

The underdog of the weekend is the No. 2 team in the country, the Penn State Nittany Lions. While they do play on the road to the No. 6 Ohio State, the Lions have been able to lean on the quarterback and running back duo of Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley.

Taking Money Lines On Houston Texans (+200), Minnesota Vikings (-450) and Buffalo Bills (-135) For A Parlay – The Vikings are playing the Browns, that is rock-solid. The Bills, set with a solid secondary, take on a shaky Raiders team that struggles against solid cornerback play.

The Houston Texans have a very tough game on the road against the Seattle Seahawks. Deshaun Watson is balling out and taking the Texans offense to another level, averaging 267.5 passing yards per game and 3.5 passing touchdowns per game. The Seahawks are too dysfunctional to handle the the Texans.

Taking the Houston Money Line (+200) – Doubling down on the Texans to win the game with a great money line is the way to grab some cash. Sometimes a line really looks great, and you just have to follow it. Deshaun Watson has looked elite and elevated the team to another level. The defense is ranked seventh, giving up just 310.5 yards per game while racking up 16 turnovers, 11th and eighth in the NFL respectively. Now they are up against a ragtag group of offensive linemen trying to protect Russell Wilson.

Taking The 230.5 Point Over On Golden State vs. Washington (-110) – The Golden State Warriors average 120 points per game for second in the league. The Washington Wizards are ranked eighth with 110.8 points per game. Between both these rosters and their fire power in John Wall, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, plenty of points will be scored. Maybe all of the points.

Other Bets

Taking The New York Jets 4.5 Point Spread (-110) – The Atlanta Falcons have looked shaky at best, with an awful showing from quarterback Matt Ryan against New England, while the defense let Miami back in for a second half letdown. The team has had plenty of problems, and a frisky Jets team can keep the game close.

Taking The Brooklyn Nets Money Line (+120) – The Brooklyn Nets are taking on the New York Knicks. Despite being the road dogs, the Nets have scored the most points at 121.2 points per game. The Knicks are at the bottom of the same ranking, averaging 93.3 points per game, making this a safe road bet.
