Twins Flashback Friday: Kirby on Letterman

Like most millennials, I have a bad habit of falling down YouTube rabbit holes. I don’t know where or how they start, but after watching one video, I move onto a related video that pops up on the sidebar and before I know it, I’ve spent two hours watching old wrestling videos or tutorials where I learn how to easily edge the overgrowth on my sidewalk.

As a result, I’ve come up with an idea: Twins Flashback Fridays. It doesn’t necessarily have to be from YouTube, but I’ll try to find things that I find interesting from Twins lore to remind us of the “good old days” of the local nine.

This time around, I stumbled upon a clip from Kirby Puckett on David Letterman. It was during his first full year out of the game, as it aired on May 9, 1997 — about 10 months after he retired.

This caught Puckett fully in his element, he’s funny and charming — like we all remember him as a player. A few things that are striking are Puckett’s right eye — I was only 11 when this aired, so I never saw much of Kirby post-retirement — and how Letterman doesn’t really add anything to the discussion.

Anyway, sit back and enjoy six minutes with Kirby on Letterman from almost 20 years ago:
