One thing the Minnesota Twins have done well in their recent history is promotional commercials. The team has done a great job blending humor and style while promoting the team dating back to the Metrodome days.
For instance, this is my all-time favorite Twins commercial:
“CUDDY. JOE. HOW’S IT GOIN?” Don’t sleep on the spit take or the Cuddyer quasi-double chin as hilarious parts of this video, either.
If you ask any Twins fan from the last decade, there’s a fairly good chance they have a favorite — or can at least identify a handful of the commercials that made them at least chuckle.
One that stands out to me is the Torii Hunter birthday party one. On its own it’s kind of a silly premise; how would this mom get Hunter to come to the boy’s party? Most likely, ad execs pitched this solely on the basis of wanting to see Torii obliterate a pinata and worked backwards from there.
That’s cool too.
My two favorite parts though are the faces of not only Torii when he comes into the room (classic Torii, honestly)…
….but also the birthday boy when he sees his hero peering around the door.
Fantastic. Sorry for the quality of these photos — HD TV wasn’t really a thing back in 2006.
So those are probably my two favorite Twins-related commercials? What are yours? Fill the comments with your favorites!
