Due to a combination of high humidity and a sheet of ice underneath the Target Center floor, Monday’s matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves has been postponed.
No word yet on when the game will be played.
The ice beneath the hardwood was used by Disney On Ice over the weekend, and will be used for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference tournament March 17-18.
Wolves Vice President of Communications Brad Ruiter said the problem was due to the humidity and the ice, with most of the condensation forming around the edges of the court, then being tracked onto the court by players.
“Players safety has to come first,” Timberwolves president-coach Tom Thibodeau said.
“It’s unfortunate, but it’s the right thing to do.”
