Wild Forward Jason Zucker Named NHL's First Star of the Week

Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker was named the NHL’s first star of the week on Monday for the week of Nov. 6-12.

During that week, Zucker tallied six goals and an assist, with the caveat that the six goals have been the last six goals the Minnesota Wild have scored, period. Per Elias Sports Bureau, Zucker is the first player since Boston’s Glen Murray in 2003-04 to record six straight team goals. His natural hat trick in the third period against Montreal last Thursday was just the third time that has happened in Wild history — joining Marian Gaborik who achieved that twice.

On the season, Zucker has scored nine goals and 14 points — both to lead the Wild — in 16 games. It is worth noting that eight of Zucker’s nine goals have come away from Xcel Energy Center this season. The Wild open up a brief two-game homestand Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers — who Minnesota defeated 1-0 Saturday night thanks to Zucker’s goal.
