It’s typical preseason protocol where the closer we get to the season, the more MNUFC info comes trickling in.
The most scandalous of this new information is that the highly-anticipated new home kit for Minnesota United has been leaked online only a few hours ago. I’m not exactly sure who Conrad Burry is but he’s apparently so proud of his nefarious action that he plastered his name all over the leaked images.
How very badass of you, Conrad.
This will be a slight blow to United, who’d planned a special jersey unveiling party at the Mall of America this weekend. Though there is a small chance this leak is a red herring, in which case, stay tuned to our reporting this weekend.
Jeff Rueter is reporting that the Loons may be close to a partnership with USL club Saint Louis FC. This is ideal for United as it will provide a clear channel for them to loan out players who are struggling to get minutes at the MLS level.
In theory, Minnesota can loan its players out to any club but having a go-to lower league partnership provides for expediency and consistency in these proceedings, which is a benefit to all.
Lastly, the Loons actually played some soccer recently. United defeated Florida International University, 4-1, in friendly scrimmage on Monday.
“Considering how hard the guys have worked, nearly two sessions a day for nearly two weeks, I was pleasantly surprised at how lively we were in the first half,” Minnesota United head coach Adrian Heath said. “I thought some of our play was exceptional in the first half.”
Kevin Molino, Christian Ramirez and Miguel Ibarra all graced the scoresheet. Another bright spot, according to Heath, was the play of returnee Rasmus Schuller. With United’s struggles in the center of midfield last season, the return of the experienced Finland international could prove vital for United.
Next up, the Loons will scrimmage Eastern Florida State College on Wednesday and Orlando City SC on Saturday.
